Last fall, Salma Hayek, who executive produces Ugly Betty, appeared on seven episodes of the Golden Globe-winning series as Sofia Reyes, a magazine editor who pretends to fall in love with Daniel Meade, a womanizing editor-in-chief played by Eric Mabius. Hayek’s gig ended after Sofia reveals she duped Daniel in order to write an article about snagging a man in 60 days.
This is what I’m hearing: Hayek was on set last week shooting some new scenes.
However, reps for the show and Hayek insist there are no plans for a Hayek return.
It would be a hoot to see Hayek’s real-life pregnancy worked into the show. Perhaps Sofia returns to tell Daniel she’s expecting their love child? Sounds like a perfect stunt to increase ratings during the all-important May sweeps period, doesn’t it?

Despite her pregnancy, Salma Hayek is showing no signs of exhaustion. In an interview with TV Guide, America Ferrera, lead actress on the series Ugly Betty attests to Hayek’s enthusiasm and energy. Ferrera said, “She is a force to be reckoned with, and she’s working harder now than she was before she was pregnant. There is no stopping her. You kind of have to hold her still and say, ‘Calm down and sit down for a second.’ But she’s happy and I’m happy for her, and I think she deserves everything in the world!”
Hayek, a 40-year old Mexican native, studied International Relations at the Universidad Iberoamericana but left school to pursue acting professionally. She starred on the telenovela Teresa and El Callejon de los Milagros, which has garnered more awards than any other film in the history of Mexican cinema. Her other acting credits included Desperado, From Dusk Till Dawn, Wild Wild West, Dogma, Frida, and Once Upon a Time in Mexico to name a few. Apart from being an Academy award-nominated actress, she is also known as an Emmy-winning director, as well as a film and television producer.
Although both are highly profiled names, Hayek and Pinault maintain a low profile relationship. And like her romantic endeavors, Hayek initially kept her pregnant state under wraps from the cast and crew of Ugly Betty. Ferrera recounts, “I noticed that she was glowing.”

Frida director Julie Taymor is considering removing her credit from a new Beatles-themed movie because she is dissatisfied with the film’s final cut. Taymor directed Evan Rachel Wood and Salma Hayek in Across the Universe, a new film set to the songs of the Fab Four, but now wants nothing to do with the finished product.
The New York Times claims Taymor fell out with producer Joe Roth after he ordered a re-cut for the film without her permission.
Roth’s revamp reportedly came in 30 minutes shorter than Taymor’s two-hour-plus film.
In a statement on March 20th, Taylor said, “My creative team and I are extremely happy about our cut and the response to it.
“Sometimes, at this stage of the Hollywood process differences of opinion arise, but in order to protect the film, I am not getting into details at this time.” Meanwhile, movie mogul Roth is playing down the controversy, stating, “She’s (Taymor) a brilliant director. She’s made a brilliant movie. This process is not anything out of the ordinary. Her reaction through her representatives might be.”
