Salma Hayek has some words of wisdom for women who are hesitant about starting a family later on in life.
“When you turn 40, it’s a lost easier than 30,” the actress, 42, tells USA Today. “They lied when they said you get old when you’re 40. The best is the 40s.” Watch the video here.
Hayek, who gave birth to daughter Valentina in September 2007, says she’ll “maybe” expand her brood, adding that she won’t let her age determine whether or not she’ll have more kids.

I have added the clip and screencaps from yesterday’s Nightline. Salma was shown going to Sierra Leone, Africa as part of The One Pack campaign with UNICEF and Pampers to witness first hand the effects of tetanus, and help be the solution. Salma actually breastfeeds a hungry infant born on the same day as Valentina, her daughter. She also gives the prevention shot to women and discussing the cause in an interview. The video is naturally upsetting, but it’s also very educational. As always learn more about Salma’s involvement and other charity work on the supported causes page.

Watch this story tonight on Nightline at 11:35 EDT
When actress and producer Salma Hayek arrived in Sierra Leone in September, she was not whisked off to a movie set.
She was there not as a celebrity, but as a humanitarian, to see firsthand a leading cause of death in the developing world: tetanus.
Nightline co-anchor Cynthia McFadden went along to document the journey.

Today Salma attended a press conference for the second year launching of The One Pack by UNICEF And Pampers. Salma started her partnership with the cause last year and also visited Sierra Leone back in September. Read about her trip on the previous post and learn more about her involvement on the charities page.
Furthermore, ABC journalist Cynthia McFadden also traveled with Salma and has reported on the trip on her site Women on the Web. Saying “A good deed in a struggling world. It was an extraordinary trip, both painful and illuminating.” Her report is also airing on tonight’s Nightline (ABC at 11:35 PM, check your local listings). I’m going to watch and hopefully record if Salma is featured. But if I am unable to obtain the video, be sure to watch it yourself if you can.
I have to say, I although I became a fan of Salma as an actress first, her personality is what truly makes me adore her. Salma is one the few celebrities who seems fully genuine about the charities and organizations she supports, it’s truly admirable. Salma seems to have one of the biggest hearts!
