Unfortunately after several months of running this website, I have decided I will be stepping down. While I greatly adore Salma Hayek, and feel I always will, I do think running a site for her is a bit to much and I don’t have the time to properly invest as much energy here as I’d like. So after some consideration and speaking to Filip (the previous owner) neither of us feel this is a site we can commit to any longer, but would rather remain fans in the background. So I wish to thank all of you for the support and donations you gave me when I took over the site but I hope you understand. At this time the site will remain online until further notice. However we’ll keep you posted if we find new owners.

The actress and her husband, French billionaire François-Henri Pinault, tied the knot – for the second time – Saturday in a star-studded ceremony in Venice, Italy, People has confirmed. They originally got married in a civil ceremony at the 6th Arrondisement City Hall in Paris on Valentine’s Day.

This time around, Hayek, 42, went all out. She wore a Balenciaga wedding gown by Nicholas Ghesquiere as she exchanged vows with Pinault, 46, at Venice’s opera house La Fenice. The bride, who wore her hair in a bun with a long veil, held a bouquet of orchids and stephanotis with crystals.

The couple’s daughter, Valentina Paloma, 19 months, was a flower girl, along with Francois-Henri’s son and daughter from his first marriage, Francois, 10 and Mathilde, 8. Valentina wore a dress by Bonpoint for the ceremony, which started around 7 p.m. At one point in the ceremony, the guests sang “Over the Rainbow.”

About 150 friends and family members were in attendance, including <a href="http://www.penelope-cruz.org" target=_"blank">Penélope Cruz, Edward Norton, Woody Harrelson, Olivier Martinez, Luis Miguel, Ashley Judd, Charlize Theron, Stuart Townsend, Bono, Gael García Bernal, Enrique Murciano, David Blaine, Ziyi Zhang, Anna Wintour and former French President Jacques Chirac. The wedding was a black tie affair. Guests wore black and gold masks as they arrived for the nuptials.

A Masked Ball

The weekend celebration kicked off Friday evening with a carnival-style masked ball at the Venice’s historic Punta Della Dogana. The structure, which is leased from the city by Pinault’s father and has undergone a $70-million renovation, will open to the public on June 6 as the Pinault Foundation Centre for Contemporary Art.

The couple’s guests have enjoyed the sites of Italy’s most romantic city since arriving Thursday. Woody Harrelson and wife Lucy Louie were spotted hand-in-hand taking a stroll around Piazza San Marco on Thursday.

Earlier this month, Hayek told People, “I think a wedding is about love, friends, family and fun.” And she certainly got that during the celebration surrounded by loved ones.

The actress and Pinault, the CEO of luxury-goods company PPR, met in spring 2006 at a gala party at the Palazzo Grassi in Venice, a white marble palace built in 1748-1772 and owned by the Pinault family.

What has been the most surprising thing about motherhood?
I don’t know if it’s motherhood that’s surprising or that Valentina is so surprising. I am in awe of her—she’s very magical. I feel so connected to her but at the same time I discover something new about her every day.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
The power to make people be kind to each other. Actually, I stole that answer from a friend!

What is your favorite color?
I went through my purple phase—maybe a bit too much! I also like reds and blues. Right now, I think it’s midnight blue.

Who is the most colorful character you’ve ever played?
Frida [Kahlo] for sure. There was a lot of happiness and celebration in that life. Even in her paintings of tragic things there is humor, there’s always color. She was full of life.

Do you follow any style rules?
I follow them not because they’re a rule but because some of them make sense. Like you don’t want to wear white to a wedding. You should let the bride be the one in white.

“Any color can look beautiful on you,” the 42-year-old actress says. “It’s like a relationship. You just have to embrace it and work with it… When you’re petite, what color you wear doesn’t matter so much but big prints are probably not the best idea.”

Great news! According to several reliable sources, Salma Hayek will get to show off her comedy chops in the new Adam Sandler film that’s tentatively titled Lake House.

JoBlo.com reports that Salma will star along with Sandler, David Spade, Rob Schnieder, Chris Rock and Kevin James in the film, which revolves around a group of high school friends who reunited in their hometown. Hayek would play Sandler’s wife in the film and the site is also reporting that Norm MacDonald and Steve Buscemi have signed onto much smaller roles in the film. It was said the film would be similar to The Big Chill, but more comedic.

Sandler is co-writing the film with Fred Wolf and Dennis Dugan would direct. The site also reported the film would likely go into production this May in New England.

This sounds great! And I think it’s safe to say that I’m speaking for the entire Encantadora-team when I’m saying “I can’t wait”!

Salma Hayek may have gotten hitched to a French billionaire but she still has her feet on the ground. This was evident with the way Salma Hayek thinks and the way she treats people. Just recently, Salma Hayek took time out to support an important man in her life—not her husband but her hairdresser. Robert Vetica, her hairdresser launched his book “Good to Great Hair” at Beso and even if she was newly wed she brought along her wedding band bling but sorry folks because the actress would not allow any questions about her new husband billionaire Francois-Henri Pinault.

Salma Hayek was however vocal about her new project which is her own line of cheap cosmetic line. The new cosmetic line being conceptualized by Salma Hayek is in response to the recession so expect it to have the Salma Hayek signature but with a cheap price. She said she is developing the cosmetic line with a drugstore and have been doing research for the product for three years now. Her thrust, to get the essence of the really expensive cosmetic products in such as way as to allow everyone to use it at an affordable price. She is also active in breastfeeding campaign.

Q: Where will you be watching the Oscars this year?
A: I have to do Marion again, but then I have a feeling I’m gonna be at Salma’s house. She’s not going to the ceremony, but I’m gonna get her ready for the parties afterwards, so I’ll hang out there and watch the Oscars. She’s like family to me. We grew up together.

<a href="http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20259649,00.html" target=_"blank">People has a little more details about Salma Hayek’s recent wedding.

At her small, romantic Valentine’s Day wedding ceremony in Paris, Salma Hayek wore white, carried a bouquet of red and white roses, and said, “I Do” – in French! – to her on-and-off beau of three years, billionaire Francois-Henri Pinault, PEOPLE reveals in its new issue.

In the Salles des Mariages in the famed City Hall of Paris’s Sixth Arrondissement, the bride shed a few tears as she said, “Oui,” before a dozen guests, including mother Diana Jimenez, her brother Sami (who also served as her witness) and 17-month-old Valentina, her daughter with Pinault.

“The bride was extremely beautiful,” an attendee tells People, “even when she was crying tears of joy. They were extremely happy.”

Introduced by Pinault’s stepmother in 2006, the couple embarked on a romance that spanned the globe.

In March 2007, the actress, 42, and the Paris-based mogul, 46 (who runs PPR, a luxury-goods company founded by his father and which owns such brands as Balenciaga and Gucci; his family is worth an estimated $16.9 billion) announced both their engagement and Hayek’s pregnancy.

But in July 2008, 10 months after their daughter Valentina’s birth, the couple abruptly called off their engagement.

Yet they continued spending time together with Valentina and, by last fall, after they were spotted looking cozy in L.A., vacationing in Ibiza and taking in a soccer game in France, headed for a reconciliation.

“He’s the sweetest guy when he’s around her,” a Hayek source says. “He’s good to her, always with her. They take the baby everywhere with him. They’re happy together, totally in love.”

For more on Hayek’s wedding, pick up the new issue of People, on newsstands Friday

I found out about this one very late so I unfortunately did not get to record it. But if anyone out there can provide us with a video, please contact me.

This report is via <a href="http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20258064,00.html" target=_"blank">People. While I don’t have her full segment, you can view a short preview on Rachael’s official, and interview snippet and <a href="http://www.rachaelrayshow.com/show/segments/view/salma-answers-audience-questions/" target=_"blank">audience questions.

What does Salma Hayek use for inspiration when locking lips with Alec Baldwin on 30 Rock? Her ex-fiancé and current boyfriend, Francois-Henri Pinault.

“I keep telling Francois, ‘I Imagine I was kissing you,’ ” Hayek, who is doing a guest stint on 30 Rock as Baldwin’s girlfriend, said on The Rachael Ray Show for a segment that airs Wednesday.

Hayek, 42, otherwise kept mum about Pinault – they called off their engagement in July though still remain a couple – but had plenty to say about her onscreen love interest.

“I have so much fun with him,” Hayek says of Baldwin. “He is just so precious, I love him.”

The actress also has her hands full with Valentina, her daughter with Pinault. At 16 months, the girl already is trilingual – she speaks English, Spanish and French – and seems to have developed a sixth sense.

“Last night she saw a ghost. I’m convinced,” says Hayek, “Last night she woke up and her eyes were open. And she’s looking at one specific point and she’s going, ‘No no no no, au revoir,’ which means goodbye in French … And she’s looking at someone, but there’s no one there.

I was so scared, and I’m like, ‘Yes, au revoir, whoever you are, get out!’ And then she started saying it in English: ‘Bye bye, bye bye!’ I guess she was trying in different languages to see what nationality this ghost was to go away. It was terrifying!”

I know the recent Nightline report has struck a great deal of feedback (mostly wonderful) and I’d love to pass these messages along to Salma but I’m not in the position to. You are of course welcome to leave comments and feedback on the news articles in the hopes that Salma or her reps might read it and pass it along, but I have no guarantee she ever will. If you would like to contact her, I suggest you try her last known fanmail address!

Salma Hayek has some words of wisdom for women who are hesitant about starting a family later on in life.

“When you turn 40, it’s a lost easier than 30,” the actress, 42, tells USA Today. “They lied when they said you get old when you’re 40. The best is the 40s.” Watch the video <a href="http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20257364,00.html" target=_"blank">here.

Hayek, who gave birth to daughter Valentina in September 2007, says she’ll “maybe” expand her brood, adding that she won’t let her age determine whether or not she’ll have more kids.

“I had her at 41. I don’t sleep because she doesn’t sleep, but I have a lot of energy,” she says. “I don’t feel like, ‘Oh my God, this is too late.’ ”

Helping Children in Need
On Thursday the actress launched the second annual Pampers/UNICEF program, a campaign aimed at eradicating tetanus in mothers and their children around the world. For her work with UNICEF, she recently traveled to Sierra Leone.

“We went to a hospital, which was shocking. The conditions … there was nothing to administer the vaccinations – they don’t have alcohol, clean water or electricity,” she told PEOPLE Thursday. “There was a child that was the age of Valentina that was half the size of Valentina … it is just heartbreaking.”

Seeing the conditions made Hayek even more grateful for her life and her daughter, she tells PEOPLE. “I appreciate everything in my life more. I want to be a part of making a difference for them,” she says. “I appreciate that my little baby is healthy. I thank God everyday that she is healthy.”

Speaks About Her Ex
As for ex-fiancé and Valentina’s father, Francois-Henri Pinault, “[He] is the best father. I was meant to have this baby with this man,” she tells USA Today about the French billionaire. The two called off their engagement in July but remain a couple.

“I am so happy I didn’t settle and I waited for him,” she says. “Had I not, I don’t know what my life would be like. You always have to believe there’s a greater future and you have to recognize it when it comes.”

I have added the clip and screencaps from yesterday’s Nightline. Salma was shown going to Sierra Leone, Africa as part of The One Pack campaign with UNICEF and Pampers to witness first hand the effects of tetanus, and help be the solution. Salma actually breastfeeds a hungry infant born on the same day as Valentina, her daughter. She also gives the prevention shot to women and discussing the cause in an interview. The video is naturally upsetting, but it’s also very educational.

Watch this story tonight on Nightline at 11:35 EDT

When actress and producer Salma Hayek arrived in Sierra Leone in September, she was not whisked off to a movie set.

She was there not as a celebrity, but as a humanitarian, to see firsthand a leading cause of death in the developing world: tetanus.

Nightline co-anchor Cynthia McFadden went along to document the journey.

To most people in the United States, tetanus brings to mind rusty nails and a quick trip to the doctor’s office for a shot. But in developing countries like Sierra Leone, maternal and neonatal tetanus (MNT) is a top cause of death among mothers and their babies.

Hayek said that she didn’t know what to expect from the trip.

“I was just open to this experience and it’s been quite an amazing one,” she said.

Sierra Leone has the highest infant and child death rate in the world. One in five children die before reaching their fifth birthday and tetanus is a big contributor — 21 percent of all infant deaths are related to tetanus.

Tetanus deaths are preventable with routine vaccinations. UNICEF has launched an initiative to eradicate the disease worldwide by 2012. In Sierra Leone the cost of immunizing one person is about 74 cents.

Once a woman is immunized, her children will be protected from the disease at birth, before needing immunizations of their own.

In 2008, Hayek became a spokeswoman for the Pampers “One Pack = One Vaccine” campaign to support UNICEF’s efforts to eliminate tetanus. For each pack of specially marked Pampers diapers sold, parent company Proctor and Gamble donates the cost of one tetanus vaccine to UNICEF. The North American campaign has generated funding for more than 45 million vaccines since the beginning of 2008.

“What really excited me about this was the concept of mothers from around the world working together to protect children,” said Hayek, who is the mother of a 16-month-old daughter named Valentina.

“The thought of somebody in Los Angeles, where I come from, purchasing the one pack of Pampers … by doing this that they were going to do anyway, they could … provide one vaccine for another mother somewhere else in the world, someone they don’t know … these anonymous women around the world coming together to protect women and to protect children was really exciting.”

As soon as she landed in Sierra Leone, Hayek was taken to a hospital in the country’s capital of Freetown where she saw the painful reality of tetanus. A 7-day-old baby girl named Fatima lay dying. There were no medications to give her but the serum given to horses with the disease.

“I was talking to this little girl and I was touching her and there was the slightest reaction, like she took a couple of breaths,” Hayek said. “And then I felt guilty to be in that room because I felt we were taking away oxygen. And as I walked out, I knew it. I felt it, the baby passed away. ”

“Her mother was so young and to lose a baby within one week at the age of 19, I cannot think of a worse thing to happen to someone than to lose a baby,” she said.

In countries like Sierra Leone, still recovering from an 11-year civil war that ended in 2002, high death rates are due to a combination of deficient health services and education.

Most women have not been vaccinated because of insufficient resources or a lack of information about the preventive measure.

These factors — together with a lack of transportation in rural areas to bring pregnant women to health clinics — cause most women in Sierra Leone to give birth at home, in unsanitary conditions that are the breeding grounds for the bacteria that cause tetanus.

The bacteria are spread when dirt enters the body through a cut or wound. Mothers are often infected by contaminated instruments during childbirth. It similarly spreads to their infants when traditional birth attendants cut the umbilical cord with an unsanitary knife, or, as is often the case, the umbilical cord is dressed by the traditional method of packing it with dirt, clay or cow manure.

Once tetanus has been contracted, the most notable symptom is stiffness of the jaw, which leads to stiffness in the throat and difficulty in swallowing.

In babies, that makes feeding impossible because the infant loses the ability to suck. Soon after, the other muscles become stiff and the infant experiences muscle painful spasms and contractions. Death is virtually certain.

“It’s heartbreaking,” Hayek said of the situation. “As sad as it is, it makes it extra sad that there is so much that can be done and it’s not done. At the same time there is a little bit of hope in knowing there is a lot you can do.”

Hayek hopes her trip will show those who have participated in the campaign by purchasing Pampers that they are making a real difference on the ground in countries like Sierra Leone.

“I want all the people that bought the Pampers and were hoping that their contribution got to the right place and to the right people and wondered if this actually happened to know that I can testify that it did. And that I unfortunately was able to testify [to] what happens when it doesn’t get here in time.”

An estimated 386 million vaccines are needed to wipe out tetanus in the remaining 26 countries yet to eliminate the disease. Pampers expects to donate at least $10.8 million during the next three years and that will fund more than 200 million more tetanus vaccines, but the work has just begun.

“I think the needs are well identified by the government and by UNICEF … definitely more facilities. … There is a huge need for more doctors,” Hayek said. “And then you have to understand there’s no electricity. So these medications have to be put in cool places; you need to refrigerate them. So if you just get the medication, there might not be a place to store them. And if you get the refrigerator, there might not be electricity for them.”

Hayek’s daughter, Valentina, turned 1 before the trip and the actress spoke about the importance of breast-feeding, especially in underdeveloped countries such as Sierra Leone. In fact doctors there say that because malnutrition is so rampant they would like to see women in Sierra Leone breast-feed for two years. But such behavior is rare. The reason? Men urge their wives to quickly stop breast-feeding because of cultural mores that forbid sexual intercourse with breast-feeding women.

“It is the best thing you can do for your child, not only the bonding, that’s how you build the immune system, so in a country like Africa imagine how important it is for the mothers do that,” she said. “But here, there is the belief that if you are breast-feeding you cannot have a sexual life so the husbands, of course, of these women are really encouraging them to stop and this is just a taboo.”

Despite all the challenges in Sierra Leone, Hayek is hopeful.

“It’s a very complicated but very doable, very doable project,” she said, one that she hopes to share with her own daughter one day.

“When she grows up I’m going to make sure … when I continue to do this work that she comes with me and that she is in touch with all of these beautiful people and all of the different kids of people around the world and that she continues to be a generous and caring person,” Hayek said. “I think that’s the best thing I can give her as a mother.”

Today Salma attended a press conference for the second year launching of The One Pack by UNICEF And Pampers. Salma started her partnership with the cause last year and also visited Sierra Leone back in September. Read about her trip on the previous post and learn more about her involvement on the charities page.

Furthermore, ABC journalist Cynthia McFadden also traveled with Salma and has reported on the trip on her site <a href="http://www.wowowow.com/post/worst-place-earth-cynthia-mcfadden-197348?promo=news" target=_"blank">Women on the Web. Saying “A good deed in a struggling world. It was an extraordinary trip, both painful and illuminating.” Her report is also airing on tonight’s Nightline (ABC at 11:35 PM, check your local listings). I’m going to watch and hopefully record if Salma is featured. But if I am unable to obtain the video, be sure to watch it yourself if you can.

I have to say, I although I became a fan of Salma as an actress first, her personality is what truly makes me adore her. Salma is one the few celebrities who seems fully genuine about the charities and organizations she supports, it’s truly admirable. Salma seems to have one of the biggest hearts!

There, she witnessed firsthand the impact of the effects of Maternal and Neonatal Tetanus.

“When I traveled to Sierra Leone, I was faced with the devastation of tetanus. Witnessing the death of a newborn was unbearable. No mother should have to endure the loss of a child. No one should die of tetanus when prevention is so easy. With the purchase of specially-marked packages of Pampers diapers and wipes, we can help make a difference in saving lives. I witnessed, firsthand, how Pampers and UNICEF are working together to eliminate tetanus.” – Salma Hayek

At a press conference today in New York, Pampers was joined by actress, mother and “One Pack = One Vaccine” international spokesperson, Salma Hayek, to announce the continued success of the North American campaign, which provided funding for more than 45 million tetanus vaccines in 2008, and aims to raise funds for an additional 30 million tetanus vaccines this year. According to UNICEF estimates, 386 million vaccines are needed to wipe out tetanus in the 46 countries that have yet to eliminate the disease, and Pampers’ global goal over the next three years is to provide funding for more than half of the needed tetanus vaccines (200 million).

By purchasing specially-marked packs of Pampers diapers and Pampers wipes now through May 1, 2009, consumers in the United States and Canada automatically trigger a donation by Pampers to fund one tetanus vaccine(1) to help UNICEF protect a pregnant woman, or woman of child-bearing age, in the developing world against the disease. Funds raised from the “One Pack = One Vaccine” campaign will support UNICEF’s efforts to eliminate MNT, a preventable disease that claims the lives of approximately 128,000 infants and up to 30,000 mothers in less industrialized nations each year — that’s approximately one newborn death every four minutes.

In developing countries where women often give birth at home in sometimes unsanitary conditions, they and their newborn babies are at risk of contracting tetanus — tetanus spores can pass through the umbilical cord when cut, infecting both mother and baby. The disease rages through newborns within days of exposure to the bacteria and almost always leads to a quick and painful death. However, tetanus is preventable with a series of low-cost tetanus vaccines.

As global spokesperson for the “One Pack = One Vaccine” campaign, Salma Hayek traveled to the African nation of Sierra Leone with UNICEF and Pampers to witness firsthand the impact of the effects of MNT. During her trip, Hayek met with local UNICEF representatives to discuss the impact of the campaign, visiting health clinics and traveling to a rural village to observe women receiving tetanus vaccines. With the support of partners like Pampers, Sierra Leone has made great progress in the fight against MNT, and is currently one of the countries targeted to achieve tetanus elimination by the end of 2009.

The Pampers “One Pack = One Vaccine” campaign is part of a multi-year, multi-million dollar commitment to UNICEF to help eliminate tetanus. While the North American campaign has exceeded expectations by raising funds for more than 45 million tetanus vaccines last year, the global campaign is anticipated to raise funds for 200 million additional tetanus vaccines over the next three years. The Pampers donation will be directed by UNICEF to any or all of the 46 remaining countries yet to eliminate Maternal and Neonatal Tetanus — wherever the need is the greatest and the funding will have the most significant impact.

“Just a decade ago, MNT was a major public health problem in 58 countries, and since then 12 countries have eliminated the disease,” said Caryl Stern, president and CEO of the U.S. Fund for UNICEF. “Partnerships with organizations such as Pampers have helped us see the number of tetanus-related deaths drop significantly. But there is still major work to be done to achieve our goal of zero mothers and babies dying of this horrific disease, which is so easily preventable. We are grateful that Pampers has chosen to partner with us again and are thankful for the efforts of Salma Hayek and her dedication to this important cause.”

This year, consumers can show their support of the campaign in two ways — purchasing specially-marked Pampers “One Pack = One Vaccine” products (participating lines include: Swaddlers and Swaddlers Sensitive diapers, Baby Dry and Cruisers diapers, Easy Ups training pants and all wipes), and redemption of Pampers Gifts to Grow points for a special campaign baby body suit. Parents can log onto the Pampers Gifts to Grow site at Pampers.com and for 10 points, a “Together we can help save a life” body suit will be shipped free of charge and also will trigger a donation(2) to fund additional tetanus vaccines through the “One Pack = One Vaccine” campaign.

“At Pampers, we are 100 percent committed to the health and well-being of babies in absolutely every thing that we do,” said Jodi Allen, North American vice president and general manager for Pampers. “Not only are we about creating the best products to support babies in their health and development, but we are about making a difference in the lives of mothers and babies around the world. We have incredible passion for the Pampers ‘One Pack = One Vaccine’ campaign — both as a company, but also personally with many employees and parents that have embraced and contributed to this campaign because it has touched their hearts and is truly making a difference in saving the lives of mothers and their babies.”

In addition to affecting the employees of Pampers, the program has reached various groups and individuals across the country. Broadway Kids Care, an organization made up of Broadway child stars in New York City, raised money through performance and bake sales for the cause. Across the country in California, a teenager and her two younger sisters took out their neighbors’ trash to raise money to support the program. Last but not least, Stroller Strides, the country’s largest and fastest-growing exercise program for new moms and their babies, has adopted the “One Pack = One Vaccine” program as its umbrella cause for 2009.

(1) For every specially marked pack of Pampers Diapers and Wipes purchased in the U.S. and Canada, the Pampers brand will donate US$.07 to the U.S. Fund for UNICEF to help provide one tetanus vaccine to a pregnant woman or a woman of child-bearing age in the less industrialized world. UNICEF does not endorse any brand or product. No portion of the purchase price is tax-deductible. Pampers’ total donation is anticipated to exceed $2 million.

This winter/spring campaign is part of Pampers’ global, multi-year, multi-million dollar commitment to UNICEF that is supported by Pampers moms and dads, one pack at a time.

(2) For every Pampers baby body suit manufactured for the “One Pack = One Vaccine” program, the Pampers brand will donate U.S.$.07 to the U.S. Fund for UNICEF to help provide one tetanus vaccine to a pregnant woman or a woman of child-bearing age in the less industrialized world.

We are going to finish shooting our original 3rd season order – 24 episodes (currently on 16).

At the end of March, we’re going off the air for a while, at a time when we would normally be on for a few weeks, off for a few, confusing and angering fans with repeats.

In June, we come back, and finish the last 6 episodes of the season without interruption!

This has been done with lots of ABC shows over time, like Lost and Desperate Housewives. We’ve got great real estate on Thursday nights at 8pm, and the network wants to share it with other shows! It makes sense.

Doesn’t mean the end of Betty.

Here is the dish:

Penélope, who was staying at the close friend Salma’s Los Angeles home for a sleepover, had planned to sleep through the nominations, having only flown into the city a few hours before. Her hostess, however, had other plans.

“I had just arrived to Los Angeles very, very late at night, and I had went to sleep. Four hours later, I was at the house of some of my girlfriends, and they woke me up.
