Ventanarosa Productions

In the late '90s, Salma Hayek created her own production-company, "Ventanarosa" (Spanish for pink window), to give a chance for herself and other Latino actors to get more versatile roles.
The first movie the company produced was the 1998-movie
The Velocity of Gary. In 1999, Salma signed on a two-year, first-look deal with Telemundo and Columbia TriStar Television to produce programs in Spanish and English.
José Tamez, a good friend of Salma, moved to Los Angeles in 1998 to work with her at "Ventanarosa Productions".

In the Time of the Butterflies and the Emmy Award-winning
The Maldonado Miracle.
Salma produced the hit-movie
Frida through "Ventanarosa" in 2002. With the movie came some recognition in the media and In 2006-2007, "Ventanarosa" produced the ABC-series
Ugly Betty, which Salma Executive Produced as well.
In early April in the year of 2007, it was announced that "Ventanarosa" and "Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc." would form a new production company, aiming to create movies that not only feature Latino themes and talent but have mass-market appeal.
In the new company, named "Ventanazul", Salma's both president and executive cheif officer of the company and her producing partner, Jose Tamez, is president of production.
